Westfield Stratford City, which opened in September 2011, is the most popular retail and leisure destination in the UK, attracting 50 million shoppers annually. Located at the gateway to the Queen Elizabeth Park, the centre has been a catalyst for the regeneration of the Stratford area, bringing around a million shoppers every week, as well as creating thousands of jobs and generating significant investment to the local community.
The centre is home to over 300 leading UK and international brands including John Lewis & Partners, M&S and Waitrose, and more than 80 dining options. It has attracted close to 40 first-to-UK retail and leisure concepts and has recently seen the expansion of key retailers including Zara, JD Sports, Stradivarius, Bershka, Footlocker and Skechers. Westfield Stratford City is a key leisure destination for London and is home to three hotels, the UK’s largest All Star Lanes bowling alley, a 20-screen all-digital Vue cinema and London’s largest Casino by Aspers.
The local community is at the heart of Westfield Stratford City and a number of strategic partnerships have been created to support and invest in the people and businesses surrounding the centre. In 2019, Westfield Stratford City became a Founding Partner and Official Sponsor of the East Bank project to deliver jobs, learning and training opportunities for East London. Together with Foundation for Future London, the Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund was established – a £10m, five-year programme powered by URW that will provide 19,000 new jobs, learning, training and educational opportunities through art, culture, innovation and creative placemaking. Our recent How We Thrive report illustrates some of the key community and sustainability initiatives at the centre. In 2022, the centre delivered almost £10m worth of social value, directly impacting the communities around it.
Offering excellent transport links to the rest of the capital, Stratford not only attracts visitors from across London and beyond to shop and be entertained, it has also become a thriving destination to live and work. The recently launched Coppermaker Square residential development, created by URW, PSP Investments and QuadReal Property Group, offers 1,225 spectacular rental homes, across 10 impressive buildings with a state-of-art gym, a 25-metre swimming pool and spa, a co-working space, a residents’ lounge, an outdoor terrace and roof garden.
At Stratford City we continue to evolve our offer with plans for more leisure, work and residential to come.
